The first season of the show covers the period from Elizabeth’s marriage to Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 1947 to the disintegration of her sister Princess Margaret’s engagement to Group Captain Peter Townsend in 1995.
The second season covers the Suez Crisis in 1956, leading to the retirement of Prime Minister Anthony Eden; the retirement of Prime Minister Harold Macmillan in 1963 following the scandal of the Profumo affair, and the birth of Prince Edward in 1964. The third season covers 1964 to 1977, beginning with Harold Wilson’s election as prime minister and ending with her Silver Jubilee, also covering Edward Heath’s time as prime minister.
The third season also introduces Camilla Shand. The fourth season is during Margaret Thatcher’s premiership and will feature Lady Diana Spencer and introduce Princes William and Harry. Events depicted include the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, their 1983 tour of Australia and New Zealand, the Falklands War, Michael Fagan’s break-in at Buckingham Palace, Lord Mountbatten’s funeral, the Princess of Wales’ appearance at the Barnardo’s Champion Children Awards and her 1989 flight on Concorde.

The robbery
Recent reports have revealed that police in the United Kingdom are actively looking for thieves who stole precious pieces of gems and jewelry used in filming the Netflix TV series, The Crown. The police report suggested that the items were worth £150,000 and were stolen from three vehicles in Doncaster last Wednesday. Among the props taken in the theft was a replica of a rare Fabergé egg which was acquired by the Queen’s grandfather, George V, in 1933; a grandfather clock, silverware and a domed birdcage.

The gang was able to gain access to the lorries and break them open and strip each container and the lot. All the items stolen were meticulously created and chosen for the show; therefore replacements cannot be found in a short period of time since each of those artifacts had a unique property.
