Everyone take your seats because the Golden Globes’ heroes have arrived. Fey and Poehler’s eccentric personalities took the front stage at the Award show on February 28, 2021. These ladies are the reason why Golden Globes is liked by audiences.
What makes the pair so special is their amazing sense of humor and their talent. It was back in 2001 when the two met on the show Saturday Night Live.
Fey mentions the time when she discovered the connection between her and Poehler after an incident at the show. She mentions in her memoir titled Bossypants, that one time the cast and crew members of SNL were going around and joking when Jimmy Fallon, who was a cast member back then, told Amy Poehler to stop joking around. ‘It’s not cute!”, he whined, “I don’t like it.” To which Amy responded that she simply didn’t care whether it was likable or not.
A Story Behind Every Friendship
That was the defining moment for Tina Fey that led her to believe that she and Amy Poehler were going to be friends. It was the confidence and self-assurance in Poehler’s tone that was liked by Fey the most. When watching them together, many people get these positive and reassuring vibes from the pair that instantly make them irresistible.
Infamous 2013 Golden Globes Scandal
However, the pair have had their fair share of celebrity feud. Fey and Poehler have been co-hosting Golden Globes since 2013, the same year they got caught under fire after an inappropriate joke aimed at singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. The 2013 Golden Globes became the talk of the town when Poehler took a jab at the young singer, stating that Taylor Swift should stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son.
What seemed to be a harmless joke turned into a petty jab at the singer’s personal life, which is already a common target, and she did not hold back. In an interview 2 months after the Golden Globes, Swift insinuated that there is a special place in hell for women who do not support other women, Painful, but understandable. And in a typical Fey-Poehler manner, the two comedians made amends as Poehler and Swift shared the stage at the 2020 Golden Globes.
It isn’t Hollywood if someone is not happy, right? But, all’s well that ends well.
