Lulu, 74, Born in 1948 – To Sir With Love
Lulu’s delivery of the song “To Sir With Love,” which was used in the 1967 film of the same name starring Sidney Poitier, garnered her international attention as an actor and singer. With her exceptional version of The Isley Brothers’ song “Shout,” Lulu went on to secure her position in the spotlight in May 1964. She was a member of the Luvvers band at the time.
Lulu, however, opted to go solo after a couple more chart-topping singles. She continues to perform solo and collaborative projects to this day and has also dabbled in film and book projects, as well as television and theater work.
