EDWARD JAMES OLMOS, 75, BORN IN 1947 – BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
Popularly known as Lieutenant Martin “Marty” Castillo from the crime-based TV series “Miami Vice,” Edward James Olmos received a Primetime Emmy award as well as a Golden Globe award for his performance as a supporting actor in the show. Moreover, he has also been nominated for an Oscar for his lead acting in the 1988 drama “Stand and Deliver.”
Olmos is a dual national, having citizenship in both America and Mexico. He is one of the few people who can say that they have an asteroid named after them. According to en-Academic.com, a main belt asteroid discovered in 1993 was named ‘5608 Olmos’ to honor the actor.
